Haii I had wanted to blog about ITC but it was almost a week ago and the feeling’s not there anymore. But I will still blog about it so that if one day I forget how ITC was like, this post will help.
DAY 1
We had to report in school at 6am so my dad had to send me. The school gate was closed and we (YO’s dad’s fetched those who slept over at his house) climbed the gate in to school. Reported at the grandstand at 630am and went on with pioneering until 10 plus am.
Pioneering: I tied the flagpole with YY, AD & YO. It was mentally tiring, having to gin lash 5 spars together. In Out In Out and still not done yet. We assembled the flagpole, ladder and 2 hourglass and ta da, our structure was up. It wasn’t as easy as I may have made it out to be. We had troubles getting the flagpole up etc. Ultimately, it was up and it looked awesome. Although I thought that the structure we built for Open House looked more zai. Hehs. We ate into Urban Ex time and it kind of snowballed and affected Day 1’s schedule.
Urban Ex: SK’s group – FT, JN, KH, MS, PO, QA, SH & WI.
Our first checkpoint was Marine Terrace Blk 3 where we usually have our stairsclimbing during PT. Our task was to complete 2 sets of stairs = 25 storeys x 2. We were the first group to reach and complete the task and also the first to leave the place.
Checkpoint 2 was Marine Parade Community Library where we had to complete a medium-level Sudoku puzzle. Still the first group to reach and complete. We had to re-do the whole Sudoku though ’cause we filled in the wrong number.
Checkpoint 3 was Donut Empire outlet near TKGS. It was quite a long walk and we didn’t dare risk taking a shortcut so we walked by the main road. Still the first group. Our task was to buy a dozen donuts and to eat them along the way -.-
Checkpoint 4 was Boon Keng and we had to take 31 there. Because 31 came early, we didn’t eat the donuts and PO stuffed them in his bag. We had our lunch at Bendemeer Market and Foodcourt (?) where we lagged behind because we didn’t (want to) rush through our lunch.
Checkpoint 5 was Fort Canning Park. We saw the other group ahead of us. Along the way to Checkpoint 5 we had to take pictures of 4 places of worship. That was easy ’cause we walked through Serangoon Road which was flooded with temples. We actually reached Checkpoint 5 first but because we didn’t know our way around Fort Canning Park well, the other group beat us and was already at Checkpoint 6 (Chinatown) when we were just about to leave Checkpoint 5. At Fort Canning Park, we had to locate 3 places which were shown in a picture. The first was Gothic Gate, followed by ROM and Fort Gate. Hornet attacked my group at ROM.
We walked to Chinatown where we had to take pictures of 5 things that depict the Chinese culture, that was easy. We were actually supposed to walk to Mount Faber SAFRA but due to time constraints, we were allowed to take the MRT there. But the walk from the MRT to Checkpoint 7 (SAFRA) was freaking long. We even walked up Mount Faber! Pants.
Checkpoint 7 was our last checkpoint. Our task was bouldering. Only a few people did that. We finally ate our donuts which mind you, looks disgusting. Urban Ex ICs bought Slurpees for us =) YAY. I accompanied AD to look for a bus which can bring her back to school ’cause she needed to help HH carry the firewood. Couldn’t find any bus. When we finally found a bus to bring her to an MRT station guess what. She forgot to bring her EZlink card -.- In the end she had to cab to school.
The rest of us took a bus to Clementi MRT Station where we green-lined to Pasir Ris and took 89 to Changi Point. The train journey was so funny! PO, JX, MS! Damn entertaining haha. At the 89 bus stop, LF and I stepped aside to discuss Ubin Ex matters and the rest were anticipating a hornet attack. Haha.
The situation at Ubin was uncalled for. It was already dark by the time we wanted to pitch our tents and we were behind time. The 8men tent pole snapped and we had to make do with a tent without proper support.
Field cooking: Cooked Hainanese Chicken Rice with TB. KA & AD had campfire matters to settle and LH was sick. So the two of us had to man 4 fires with 4 mess tins of rice! Our dish won!!! =) But we had a hard time washing up ’cause the burnt rice was stuck to the mess tins.
Campfire: It may not have been a proper campfire for me but it was fun! The hai tai (?) game got everyone so high, we could play the game the whole of campfire! And our item was so crap la. Pokemon evolution haha!
Night walk: Cancelled due to the lack of time. =) / =(
Attempted to re-dress my wound before I slept and I got so disgusted looking a worsened version of what I had that morning. SH wanted to burst the bubble for me but I didn’t dare so I burst it myself. Ouch. Crippled for a few hours ’cause I didn’t put any dressing on. Bursting the bubble was useless ’cause it inflated back within an hour. Firelighting & Sentry at 1am. HH, QA, YY. Our fire refused to light up until the last minute.
Day 2
Unpitched, breakfast-ed and UBIN EX
Ubin Ex: #1 We cycled while the rest had to walk. #2 We shout hornet attack while the rest we hornet attacked. Haha. Okay la, quite fun cycling around Ubin on your own but it gets tiring after cycling non-stop for a few hours. I stopped once at the T Junction, once at the Broken Temple and once at the Shed at Cemetery.
Back to mainland and “walked” back to school! HAHA Landchief’s punishment that does not include hornet attack!
Back at school, we washed up. Washed the mess tins with SH and ST. Smelled like vomit. PUKES. After that we had a debrief and off to KFC for dinner. Bus-ed home with JX, MS & SK.
