Wow, I haven’t been blogging for ages. Things have happened, often unavoidable.
Dad bought a computer for me and my sister because he did not want us to keep hogging the laptop. And now that my sis’ ALevels are over, she hogs the computer everyday and I just can’t be bothered to ask her for the computer. The only times I use the new computer is when she is done for it for the day. And when I get to use the computer, I can’t be bothered to do anything else besides checking my mail. So there you have it. The reason why I haven’t been in touch with my blog for a very long time.
I went for Cedar Guides Annual Camp 2008 with Eugenia Chin and Sandra. We joined them from the 2nd night onwards. The camp was okay okay. We could see how Cedar Guides standard is dropping and so is the camp standard. The camp was rather smoothly ran but running it smoothly and running it well are two different things. Campfire was pretty depressing because it determines whether or not Cedar Guides will ever hold a campfire ever again and the verdict isn’t nice to hear. The guides seemed to have enjoyed the camp. But whether they have learned from it as much as they enjoyed it, I don’t know. The camp organisers aka sec 3s have grown a lot since we last saw them. So did the sec 2s. I was pretty glad to see a particular handful of sec 2s being more active in guides. And I could see that the current sec 2 batch are pretty bonded. Sad to know that 6 of them will be leaving for IP. Promising few. Enough about the camp. Now about us (Eugenia, Sandra and I). Erhm, I can admit that we did not really help as much as we wanted to. Mainly because this is our first time coming back to help them with the running of a camp. And also because this camp is some sort a test camp and we did not want to interfere much with the way they run the camp. But I am afraid we may have seemed slack or some sort. But I do have to insist that we did try to do what we could and yes, we’ll learn from this camp and hopefully will be able to play a more active role when/if we come back to help them again.
Sandra and I also helped out Agnes aka Ms Chong with her New Town Secondary Guides camp recently. It was a 3D 2N camp in their school campus, with 20 campers. Shall I emphasize that their total company strength is just slightly more than 20? Yes. Well, at first we were kind of uneasy and not used to the way the camp was run. Mainly because in Cedar Guides, we do not run camps like that. Like how? #1 Discipline, #2 Sense of urgency, #3 Responsibility, #4 Pride etc. These qualities were just not shown by the campers. But I can’t criticize the way the camp is run just because I am not used to it. So that aside, I found the campers a very fun and lively bunch of people! Really nice and friendly. Without such qualities mentioned above, they are a really bonded company. Everyone gets along well with everyone and they are in every sense sisters to each other like guides should be. Helping Agnes run the camp was a pretty insightful experience for me. I would really like to help her again if given the chance to! And spending that 3D 2N with Sandra made it even more fun! =D
Well, these two camps were the main highlights of my holidays so far. Other minor highlights..Erhm. Shopping trips!! Went shopping once with my sister and cousin. Then with my mum and sister and again with them. Well, I had a 4 item shopping list (Shoes, Wallet, Pencil case, Watch) but to no one’s surprise, I did not buy any of these during the shopping trips. Ended up buying tops, slippers, bag and random stuff which I can’t quite remember. Sigh, when will I ever find nice shoes, wallets, watch and pencil case? Still have to stock up on my pencil case which was emptied for my sis’ ALevels.
Ohhh! Orientation 2009! THOR~
